"I want my coffee the way i want my lovers, black, cold and bitter. -Borisch"
2005-04-23 : Learning things the hard way

About 3 weeks ago I learned something the hard way.
I learned that if there is a storm and all electricity goes out for 2 weeks then there might come colder weather during those 2 weeks. And if the temperature drops during those 2 weeks then the water in the toilet in your cabin is sure to freeze. And when the water freezes, the toilet cracks.
When the temperature rises, the ice melts and causes water damages.

When I then call my insurance company, to whom I have paid about 1000 dollars to keep the cabin insured for every kind of damage, they tell me that I get nothing.
In fact, they even tell me that if my house burned down to the ground, they would grant me a total sum of one hundred dollars.
Apparently my cabin is too old and the value of the house is deprecated. But I CAN pay them 400 swedish crowns (~50 dollars) extra every year to circumvent the deprecation.

This I would have known, IF i had read the terms and all the small print that I accepted when I signed our contract.
Before I signed I had informed them about how old the cabin was, where it was and so on, but this did not stop them in signing me up for an insurence, well knowing that they would never have to pay me a cent. Informing me about the possibility of guarding against deprecation for meager 50 bucks a year wasn’t on the top of their minds either. “Let her find out if she reads the small print” they must have thought.

The fact that the contract I had signed did not contain the full 85 pages (really…85 pages, I’m not exagerating here) of small print and the fact that they did not inform me of any of this, or that they would give me nothing doesn’t really matter.

It doesnt matter cause like my ISP tech guy, the people at “Trygg Hansa” insurancecompany are EVIL.

This, and many, many more lessons are inspiration for the next couple of panels. Simple things, lessons of life that I did not realy want to learn.

Love
